1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO is a great robot vacuum that has a variety of innovative features that make it easier to maintain than other models. The automatic bin emptying feature is among the most useful features we've seen in a robot vacuum. It works well on both carpets and hard floors. The app will guide you through the entire process. It's also simple to use and set up. Its ability to resumptuate the same place it left off during our tests is a great feature. It was able to do this for 77 minutes in one cleaning, before the battery was exhausted.

Unlike some of the other robovacs we've evaluated, the i3+ EVO comes with self-emptying bins that dump debris into an external dirt compartment on the base of its charging when it's filled. The i3+ EVO can be prevented from overfilling with a self-emptying bin. However, it must still be manually empty at the end of each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO's built-in dust bin holds 2.4L of trash that is enough to last several cleaning sessions before you need to replace it.

This model, like the i7, uses cutting-edge floor-tracking sensors that create maps. It also lets you navigate in neat rows. The i3+ EVO can only store one map, while the i7 is able to store multiple. The map of the i7 can be used to create virtual barriers and no-go zones, but not for the i3+ EVO.

While the i3+ EVO is superior at picking up dirt and debris from surfaces than the other robovacs we reviewed however, it's not the most effective in terms of cleaning corners and edges. It's also not as gentle on furniture, despite being surprisingly quiet. It was quite rough on furniture as it moved chairs away. It also made some collisions with the sides of the test bed.

It also performs well on carpets, and earns an excellent score in our navigation tests. It's only downside is that it's louder than other models, and doesn't perform as well in our satisfaction of the owner and predicted reliability assessments.

The Q5 Pro has a very large dust bin that is 770ml, which means you won't have to empty it as often as some other 2-in-1 robots. Its 240-minute runtime is also extremely generous when compared to other models we've tried. If the battery is low, it returns automatically to its dock where it recharges and then resumes cleaning from where it began. You can manage the Q5 Pro using the app or voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

This is among the first robots we've seen to incorporate 3D mapping. That, combined with some other advancements, allows it to excel during our mopping and vacuuming tests. It allows you to schedule cleanings, set no-go zones, and check the battery's status as well as other things. The app is simple to use, though it does not support Apple HomeKit which is scheduled to be added by 2025. Apple updated its footnote on its website in the beginning of November to reflect that this feature has been delayed until 2025. A few other robots aren't compatible with HomeKit, but many of them are compatible with Siri Shortcuts.
